Play Period
A fun & educational game to learn about menstruation

Why Us

As per UNICEF, 70% adolescent girls in India are unaware of menstruation until they attain menarche.

India has the largest adolescent population in the world.

With Play Period, we can educate & support more girls to manage their menstruation cycle in a dignified & sustainable way.

How Play Period Can Make Learning Fun

Play Period is designed to make learning about menstrual hygiene & health management, along with water access, sanitation & health, an engaging and enjoyable experience for all ages. The interactive & intuitive nature of the game ensures that players can easily grasp important concepts while having fun.

Developed to address the critical gaps in menstruation education, particularly in developing nations, this game educates on bodily functions, environment sustainability, social taboos & essential health practices through a unique approach.

“Play Period is so much fun. This is the first time I have come across a game where I learnt so many amazing things about my body and menstrual hygiene. It made me realize that period is not taboo.”

Meet the Team

In 2023, as a part of the Frontiers Champion project funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering UK, we developed and implemented a MHHM training module specifically focusing on school children approaching puberty in Ratnagiri, India. We identified a dearth of engaging, contextual, and easy to comprehend localized learning aids designed for school children to manage menstruation sustainably. The peer learning aid game ‘Play Period’ was developed here for maximum impact in terms of awareness outreach and community impact. We furthered the project outcomes and developed the Play Period app in 2025 as a learning aid digital tool which can be easily implemented within the school curriculum.
